Comparison TableEdit

Monk

Rank Average Card Example
Weapon Strength: 2 of 8 Staff
Armor Strength: 2 of 8 Hooded Cloak
Action Phase: 6 of 8 Wrestling
Defensive Spells/Abilities: 6 of 8 Back Lash
Card Draw: 6 of 8 Dragon Sphere

*Note:
Rankings encompass overall strengths of each class in a given category in an overall sense, meaning that power/ retaliation, damage, defense and any additional effects are all considered in determining each classes rank in each category.

Rankings are based on x out of 8, to compare each class in relation with the other 7 classes directly, with 1 being the lowest rank and 8 being the highest rank, (Ex. the Gladiator has the best weapons and armor overall out of all 8 classes, considering all factors listed above, so they score an 8 of 8 in both categories).

Specialty: Weapon Breaking and Double Ability MasterEdit

Solo Monk decks have been among the most popular decks in Ederon for quite a while and with good reason. With the ability to expertly reduce damage from any source, attack multiple times from the action phase, draw cards to replenish his hand, all while being the best in the game at destroying opponents weapons, they are ready to face just about any threat. Not so reliant on weapons, his best arms tend to be more useful for their ability to disarm the opponent rather than being depended on for any serious offensive use. Armor is very limited as well for this class which uses blocking abilities to both shield himself, and keep the opponent guessing with cards like Splinter and Back Lash which can additionally damage and often destroy attacking weapons. Double Ability cards like Trip and Kirsh can be expertly combined with high damage attack abilities to both deal big damage and hinder your opponent from attacking. However, using double abilities will quickly deplete your hand so you will want to have access to many of the Monk’s great card draw options like Meditate and Dragon Sphere. Offering strong and versatile attacks from the second phase and great card draw to boot, the Monk is seldom found without an answer on the battlefield.

Spotlight: Monk CardsEdit

Charen defense
Having lack of armors Monks focus on defense abilities to keep them alive. Unlike many 3 damage reduction defense abilities this one reduces 4 but you need to have a weapon equipped.

Kirsh
Double Ability and Retracting, what’s better than that? Combine with bigger attacks if you have them, or just ping for 2 every turn as your WORSE option.

Soul strike
With a weapon in hand, this Monk Double Ability is devastatingly effective, giving all the benefits of a Wrestling at the reliability of a Kirsh.

Splinter
Monks prefer to use any weapons for defense or no weapon at all, so Splinter’s drawback is minimal for most Monks…making this a “Hide” with 2 retal weapon damage.

Surprise
4 damage in the hands of a Monk is likely to be accompanied by another 1 or 2 damage with a double ability like Kirsh, Soul Strike, Wrestling, Trip or Djinn’s Faith.

Unification gem
The Monk uses many defensive abilities, and this will add offensive punch to his weapon attack phase for 3 turns.
